Economics

Introduction of entomophages is an effective way of complex biological plant protection.

Agriculture is a risky sector

Today, agriculture is not only the largest industry in most of the world’s economies; it is also a driving force for the development of modern technology and biochemistry.

Constant growth in the consumption of vegetables, fruits and cereals makes it necessary to introduce new technologies that can withstand the constant risks associated with farming.

2018

In 2018, scientists around the world sounded the alarm: the tendency to yields reduction of almost all crops began to grow steadily. Researchers identified the main reasons for this, including outdated plant protection technologies against diseases and pests and the massive use of toxic chemicals that accumulate in the soil and cease working.

Harvest damage can be caused by various factors: 14% of losses from pests, up to 12% from diseases, and weeds reduce yields by 9%.

Problems faced by all agrarians

According to official UN FAO data, agrarians around the world lose 35% of their agricultural output each year, which is more than 75 billion dollars.

FLY&SEE, together with leading Russian scientific institutes, has developed high-tech solutions to reduce the main risks in agriculture

This approach does not require labour costs or the use of heavy machinery. Introduction of entomophages using drones is 2 times cheaper.

Pest insects

Conventional methods:

Pests are the main risk factor for the future harvest. The use of insecticides rarely makes it possible to achieve efficiency of over 60-63% on most crops.
However, conventional pest control methods increase the insecticide burden on plants and often have a negative impact on product quality.

Effective approach:

Timely processing and accurate monitoring of crops using UAVs, as well as prediction of pest flying, help to save crops by using entomophages. Our specialists have developed a system for introducing trichogramma, chrysopida and habrobracon using drones.
Thanks to accurate dosing, growing entomophages in vitro, rapid and precise introduction, this method of plant protection against insects provides up to 90% efficiency.

Rodents

Conventional methods:

Losses caused by rodents in fields with cereals, melons, soybeans and sunflowers can reach 20-30%. Traditionally, poisons are used in agricultural fields to control rodents. Modern formulations only provide high efficiency in case of total treatment which requires a high consumption of chemicals and therefore high costs for the farmer.

Effective approach:

To combat rodents in the fields of its customers, Fly&See applies all the possibilities of its technology park. Overflight of the field by a drone equipped with a multispectral camera makes it possible to determine exact coordinates of rodent colonies, their type, number and main routes of movement. Such data allows us to select the most effective rodenticide and to clearly dose its usage. The formulation application is accurate to 5 cm and has efficiency of 100 hectares per hour.

This method of rodent control does not require total coverage of the crop area with chemicals. Rodent control with drones reaches 95% efficiency with savings of up to 43%.

Ultra-low volume spraying treatments are 2 times more effective than conventional methods.

Diseases and insufficient plant nutrition

Conventional methods:

Standard top-dressing and disease protection methods are limited to regular fungicide spraying and application of complex fertilisers. At the same time, agronomists tend to adopt a standardized approach to formulations selection and have to use heavy machinery that has a negative impact on crops.

Effective approach:

We have an integrated approach to improving crop quality. Drones with cameras having different spectra allow to quickly track the condition of sprouts and plants, identify diseases at early stages, create maps of problem areas, and determine the need for micro and macro elements. Based on this data, our specialists draw up a work plan, recommend fungicides and develop micro fertilisers for specific areas of the field and apply ultra-low volume spraying for application of formulations.
